Resumen

El metaperitaje, también conocido como metadictamen, es una herramienta emergente en el ámbito jurídico que permite analizar críticamente los dictámenes periciales dentro de un proceso judicial. Su importancia radica en la posibilidad de evaluar la calidad metodológica, la consistencia científica y la validez de las conclusiones emitidas por los expertos. A pesar de su potencial, su uso en el sistema penal acusatorio mexicano aún enfrenta resistencias y falta de comprensión. Este artículo explica qué es el metaperitaje, cómo funciona y por qué puede fortalecer la administración de justicia.

Abstract

Expert evidence plays a central role in criminal proceedings, particularly within adversarial systems where proof is subject to contradiction and evaluation in court. However, the reliability of expert reports is often assumed rather than critically examined. This article addresses the concept of meta-expertise, understood as the technical and scientific analysis of an existing expert report. Rather than producing a new report, meta-expertise evaluates the methodological rigor, internal consistency, and validity of the original conclusions. By focusing on how expert knowledge is constructed, it functions as a quality control mechanism within judicial processes. This paper explains its scope and relevance in the Mexican adversarial criminal system, highlighting its potential to strengthen evidentiary debate and improve the assessment of scientific evidence in court.
